TECHNOLOGIES FOR CONVERTING BIOMASS INTO ENERGY-VALUABLE PRODUCTS THROUGH PROCESSING
Main Article Content
Abstract
The density of briquetted biomass is nearly 6 times higher than the original bulk density of the biomass. The available methods for processing products include thermo-chemical, physico-chemical, and biological methods. The "cold" briquetting process of raw biomass often requires the addition of a binder. The pyrolysis method is effectively used to improve the consumer properties of the finished solid briquetted or granulated fuel obtained from biomass. High temperatures up to 2000°C are applied in gasification in the flow. Due to the simplicity of the equipment and relatively low energy consumption, the main share (about 75%) is used for producing solid biomass fuels. The main types of biomass used in pyrolysis processes are wood chips and organic waste. After grinding the obtained wood charcoal, pyrolyzed pellets are produced from it. Another advantage of using plant biomass for pyrolysis is that it contains lignin.
