Abstract

This article discusses the development of polymer-bitumen compositions for asphalt pavements. Local bitumen was modified using rubber powder, elastomers, and antioxidants, and their physicomechanical and rheological properties were investigated. Experimental results showed that the penetration index decreased from 74∙0.1 mm to 59∙0.1 mm, the softening point increased from 52 °C to 70 °C, the brittleness temperature decreased from –16 °C to –24 °C, the elongation at 25 °C increased from 45 cm to 68 cm, and the elasticity index increased from 62% to 81%. These findings demonstrate that modified polymer-bitumen compositions exhibit higher strength, durability, and resistance to environmental impacts compared to conventional bitumen.
