TEXTURAL AND PHYSICOCHEMICAL CHARACTERISTICS OF MODIFIED CATALYSTS FOR THE PRODUCTION OF AROMATIC HYDROCARBONS FROM PROPANE
Main Article Content
Abstract
The article presents the synthesis and physicochemical characterization of mesoporous high-silica zeolite catalysts modified with nanosized zinc, zirconium, and molybdenum for the catalytic aromatization of propane. The acidic properties of the catalysts were investigated by temperature-programmed ammonia desorption, while their textural characteristics were evaluated in terms of specific surface area and pore volume. The nature of coke deposits formed on the catalyst surface after the reaction was examined using derivatographic and thermogravimetric methods. The results showed that the catalyst containing 1% Zn exhibited the highest aromatization activity. Increasing the zinc content resulted in a decrease in specific surface area and total pore volume. The addition of carbon powder during catalyst synthesis was found to reduce coke formation, with 1.0% carbon identified as the optimal amount. A further increase in carbon content decreased the aromatization activity of the catalyst. The findings demonstrate that catalyst composition, acidity, and pore structure are key factors controlling the efficiency of propane conversion to aromatic hydrocarbons.
