EVALUATION OF THE HYDROCARBON POTENTIAL OF THE LOWER–MIDDLE JURASSIC TERRIGENOUS SEQUENCES IN THE BESHKENT TROUGH (USING THE CHUNAGAR DEPOSIT AS AN EXAMPLE)

Abstract
The article evaluates the hydrocarbon potential of the Lower–Middle Jurassic terrigenous deposits using geological and geophysical data from the Chunagar field, located in the eastern part of the Beshkent Trough. Interpretation of 3D CDP seismic data was used to analyze the structural features of the area, its brachyanticlinal structure, tectonic faults, and the potential conditions for hydrocarbon accumulation in structural and non-anticlinal traps. Geological, geophysical, and well-testing results obtained from exploration wells at the Chunagar field substantiate the presence of gas and gas-condensate accumulations within the Lower–Middle Jurassic terrigenous deposits. Reservoir porosity and gas-saturation parameters were evaluated, and prospective productive intervals were identified in the well sections. The obtained results indicate that the Jurassic terrigenous deposits of the Beshkent Trough may represent an important source for increasing hydrocarbon reserves. Recommendations are provided for further exploration and appraisal activities aimed at delineating the hydrocarbon accumulations of the Chunagar field, increasing recoverable reserves, and developing prospective areas.
