Abstract

This study addresses the prevention, detection, registration, and management of sports injuries and occupational diseases among athletes in the field of physical education and sports. The article analyzes statistical data from both international sources and the Republic of Uzbekistan, demonstrating that the growing popularity of sports is accompanied by an increased risk of injury, rising treatment costs, and a greater need for effective preventive measures. Indicators relating to the number of sports facilities and individuals participating in sports, as well as the frequency and severity of injuries across various sports, are summarized. Particular attention is paid to musculoskeletal disorders, injuries to the knee, ankle, shoulder, and elbow joints and the spine, as well as the relationship between acute injuries and chronic diseases. Improperly managed training loads, insufficient physical and psychological preparedness, careless movements, athletes’ age and qualification, and their anatomical and functional characteristics are identified as the main risk factors. The fragmented storage of existing data is found to hinder injury prediction, individual health surveillance, and the development of preventive strategies. Digital monitoring systems make it possible to consolidate information on accidents and occupational diseases in a unified database, promptly register incidents, conduct an in-depth analysis of their causes, monitor the implementation of corrective measures, continuously track athletes’ health, and develop preventive recommendations for coaches. The findings have considerable scientific and practical significance for improving occupational safety management in sports organizations, optimizing training loads, reducing injury risks, and systematically safeguarding athletes’ health and operational safety.
