Abstract

The aim of this study is to describe the microscopic structure of processing waste from the Ingichka beneficiation plant, the distribution of mineral phases across observation fields, and replacement textures. A polished mount prepared from a crushed sample was examined in reflected light using an ADF U300P polarizing microscope. Mineral grain boundaries and sizes were assessed in ImageView, and results from nine main fields and six supplementary diagnostic micrographs were compared with grain-count tables. Ore mineral grain proportions relative to the total particle count in each field were found to be 8.60–23.46%. The occurrence of scheelite, bismuthinite, and magnetite in selected fields characterized the local mineralogical heterogeneity of the sample. Partial replacement of pyrite by goethite, martitization of magnetite, the lamellar internal structure of bismuthinite, concentric zonation of garnet, and a rim around pyrite interpreted as secondary sulfides were examined. The results provide a basis for selecting mineral phases for further microanalytical investigation and for planning waste rebeneficiation studies. Grain-count proportions do not represent mass fractions, chemical concentrations, or recovery performance.
